The Delicious Flavors of Mexico, with a Lingering Legacy
Grown by the women of the CESMACH Co-op, this coffee is shade grown in the buffer of the El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve. It's one of the world’s most diverse forest reserves and Meso-America’s largest continuous-coverage cloud forest.
The economic situation for families in the rural communities of Mexico’s coffee-producing regions has always been difficult. But for women, the difficulties have always hit harder. Facing a high rate of migration among the males in their families to foreign countries, many women became the sole earner for their families—and, often, extended family—attempting to earn a living in a workforce biased against them.
Since joining the Café Femenino program, the women farmers of Cesmach have increased their income, their ability to organize, and their leadership opportunities—empowering them to support their families during slow production periods brought on by coffee rust, a destructive plant disease.
When you choose Café Femenino Coffee, you choose a brand that provides leadership opportunities and ownership rights to women coffee farmers like those of the CESMACH Cooperative.
